Sweet Cream Cheese Wontons

Ingredients
  

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

20-24 wonton wrappers

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Honey or chocolate sauce, for drizzling (optional)

Instructions
 

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer or spatula to beat until smooth and creamy.

    If desired, fold in the mini chocolate chips for an extra touch of sweetness and texture.

      Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wrapper.

        Moisten the edges of the wonton wrappers with a little water (this helps seal them). Fold the top corner over to the bottom corner to create a triangle shape, then press the edges tightly to seal. You can also crimp the edges with a fork for decoration.

          Heat oil in a deep skillet or frying pot over medium heat. Use enough oil to submerge the wontons for even frying.

            Fry the wontons in batches, careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

              Once cooked, remove the wontons and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

                Allow the wontons to cool slightly, then dust them with powdered sugar and drizzle with honey or chocolate sauce if desired.

                  Serve warm and enjoy your sweet cream cheese wontons!
