Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef flank steak, sliced thin against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked jasmine rice (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the steak and set aside for at least 15 minutes to marinate.

Prep the Vegetables: While the steak is marinating, prepare the vegetables. Slice the onion and bell peppers into thin strips. Mince the garlic and grate the ginger.

Heat the Pan: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat until it’s shimmering hot.

Stir-Fry the Steak: Add the marinated steak to the pan in a single layer. Allow it to sear for about 1-2 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until browned and just cooked through. Transfer the steak to a plate and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onion, and bell peppers to the pan. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet still crisp.

Add the Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Combine and Finish: Return the cooked steak to the pan with the vegetables. Add the sesame oil and stir everything to combine, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Serve: Once everything is heated and well-combined, remove from heat. Serve the sizzling pepper steak and onions over cooked jasmine rice, garnished with chopped green onions.
