Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

4 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/4 cup water

2 green onions, chopped

1 cup shredded carrots

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium heat, add sesame oil. Once heated, add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.

In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Pour this mixture over the cooked beef in the skillet.

Stir well to coat the beef, and allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Stir in the shredded carrots and chopped green onions, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until carrots are slightly softened.

Serve the Korean ground beef over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and extra green onions if desired.
