Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark, or mix them!)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix until well combined.

Stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth.

Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!

Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with a few moist crumbs attached.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing into squares.
