Ingredients

1 pound (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnishing

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Set aside for later use.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2 minutes until vibrant green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. This will keep the broccoli crisp.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, toss in the sliced red bell pepper, sautéing for another 2 minutes.

Combine Missing Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli back into the skillet along with the cooked beef. Pour the sauce mixture over everything and mix thoroughly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is evenly coated.

Final Touches: Taste and adjust seasoning with more soy sauce, if needed. Remove from heat.

Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot over a bed of jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for extra flavor and presentation.
