Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 taco seasoning packet

1 cup refried beans

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup salsa

1 package of refrigerated pizza dough

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Sour cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and ground beef (or turkey), breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned.

Drain excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and follow package instructions to add water (usually 2/3 cup). Let simmer for about 5 minutes until thickened.

Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.

Cut the dough into long strips (about 3 inches wide). You can cut them into shorter strips if desired.

Spread a layer of refried beans onto each strip of dough.

Add a spoonful of the seasoned meat mixture over the refried beans, then sprinkle a layer of cheddar and mozzarella cheese on top.

Drizzle a small amount of salsa over the cheese.

Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal each stick securely. Optional: twist the sticks slightly for a fun presentation!

Place the taco sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush a thin layer over each stick for a golden finish.

Sprinkle garlic powder and onion powder on top of the sticks for an extra flavor boost.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.

Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired, and serve with additional salsa and sour cream for dipping.
